Jasmine Meadows

Welcome to the town of Meadowood Springs

Meadowood Springs is a small rural town in New England of barely 100 people. It’s the kind of town one might describe as quaint, sleepy or picturesque. Once a prosperous and booming town, it’s long since become a place people grow up in and move away from. The town got its name from three surrounding environmental traits, the beautiful meadow, the surrounding woods and the spring the town was founded around.

The town dates back to colonial times, but rumors exist of previous Native American settlements that were wiped out by the colonists to take advantage of the rich environment. It's said greed cost the founders dearly, and they were punished for it. It is currently a sleepy town most of the year, except during the spring and fall festivals. The May festival celebrates the spring the town was founded around, and the rejuvenation of life. Sadly, the spring, has long dried up, and nobody even knows where it originally was. That has not stopped the celebrations. A manmade fountain has been constructed for the festival to continue the tradition on. The festival attracts people from all over the region, especially those searching for ever health benefits, which legend has it held the spring had curative properties for.

The fall festival in town celebrates the withering of life, which most believe began when the spring dried up, along with the town. Others whisper it has its roots in the days of witches and pagan customs the town tried to conceal. The festival tends to be more of drunken debauchery nowadays and tends to attract the unusual and bizarre from all over.

To the west of the town one will find the meadow, which also serves as the festival grounds. Somewhere in the meadow is also where the spring was rumored to be, but strangely geological testing has never been able to find it.

On the eastern verge of the meadows is the farm and homestead of the Bancroft family. The Bancroft's are one of the founding families of the town, but the homestead has not been lived in since Jasmine’s parents left shortly after they were married. Over the years the house has been kept up by a caretaker but is boarded up and abandoned for the most part. Because it is empty, the children in town are convinced the house is haunted, and some adults are too! However once Jasmine arrives, she's stunned to find the inside of the manor is immaculate and fit for royalty.

The main town itself lies between the Bancroft homestead at the edge of the meadow, and Warrington Manner, which resides on the far the eastern edge of the town and by the sea. Home of the Warrington family, the manner sits on top of a large cliff and the house overlooks the entire town. The Warringtons are also a founding family of the town and are of old money. They run the town from behind the scenes and everyone knows it. Also located on the hill and adjacent to the manor is the Warrington family cemetery, where an unusual number of Warrington women are found buried. Locals murmur that the family is cursed.

Finally, the town and meadow are surrounded to the west, south and north by the woods. The woods are unnaturally dark, even on the sunniest days. The townsfolk stay clear of them as it is rumored that people who go in don’t often come out . . . especially the tourists.
